Coming & Going:

AIR: KL International Airport (KLIA) is at Sepang (50km, 1 hour) from Kl. Serves domestic cities, Sabah and Sarawak as well. Buses, Limo, Taxis and hire-car are available. Some domestic flights go from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (45km west of KL.).
RAIL: Malaysian Railways (KTM) has a good network on Peninsular Malaysia. Railpasses available, Adults $55-10 days, $120-30 days, under 30 years special $32-7days unlimited (YHA, ISIC, YIEE cardholders). Eastern and Oriental Express passes through KL going from Singapore to Bangkok (41 hours). Commuter trains to nearby towns-Rawang, Seremban, Port Klang.

Getting Around:

Light Rail Transit covers 13km with 12 stops in the downtown area.
Taxis. All are metered. Flagfall is RM2 for 2km, then 10sen/200metres.
Train. around KL as well as to Port Klang, Seremban, Kajang and Rawang.
Bus. four major companies service the city. Intrakota, Park May, Metro, City Liner.

All types from luxury to backpackers. RM250 and up for international hotel. About RM100 for budget hotel. Cheapest is around RM8 for a bed in a backpackers dormitory.
Climate:
Sitting just above the Equator, it is hot and humid all the time. The hill areas are cooler. Average rainfall is 2000-2500mm. The rainy season is from about November to February on the East Coast Peninsular Malaysia, Western Sarawak and North-East Sabah. From April-May and October-November on the West Coast Peninsular Malaysia. Average temp. is 21ºC-32ºC.
Attractions:
Dance, many styles arising from the cultural mix. Mak Yong is ancient court entertainment. Joget is the popular traditional dance. Sumazau, the national dance of Sabah. Also the Candle Dance, Chinese Opera, Indian Dance, Bhangra Dance (Sikh).
