Sarawak is Malaysia's largest state.
It lies in East Malaysia and shares the island of Borneo with the eastern state of Sabah, the separate country of Brunei and the Indonesian provinces of Kalimantan.
Attractions:
Mulu National Park (544 sq.km) encompasses Mt. Mulu (2376 metres) and a spectacular cave system. The Niah Caves. one of the largest caves in the world is here and also the site of a skull which dates back to 40,000 BC. Santubong Fishing Village, has a history going back to the 7th century, gold was once the trading force, and there are Hindu/Buddhist archeological traces from the 7-13th centuries.

Coming & Going:
AIR. MAS (Jalan Song Thian Cheok, tel 2441444) flies to Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, and to Pontianak (Indonesia) twice a week. Taxi to town is RM13, Bus also (6:30am-6pm).
BUS. if there is a road to a place there will be a bus going there. there are not many roads. e.g.Sarikei, Bintulu, Miri, Danai/Santubong and Pontianak (Indonesia). There is no road to Sabah state.
BOAT: Express boat to Sibu and Niah National Park (4 hours, RM29-38) several each day.


Sibu:
A port city on the mighty Rejang River, serving mostly as a base for up-river travel and exploration.
Outside Sibu there are hotels/guest houses in Song, Kamowit, Kapit and Belaga.

BUS. to Bintulu (about 4 hours, RM16-18).
BOAT. to Kuching (4 hours,RM29-33). Upriver Express to Kapit (2 hours, RM15, 130 km).
